The Unmoved

The storm does not change the direction. What is truly strong simply remains, long after everything that tried to move it has passed.

On the plateau, the yak does not hurry.

It moves at the pace the mountain demands — steady, deliberate, unbothered by distance or altitude or the weight it carries on its back. Storms arrive. The yak lowers its head and continues. The pass rises steeper than expected. The yak does not recalculate. It simply carries what it has been given to carry and moves in the direction it has been pointed, one step at a time, until the other side appears.

This is not stubbornness. It is something rarer — the particular steadiness of a creature that has never needed the world to be easier than it is in order to keep going.
